put weaning off until it warms up; 52 for a high Friday...but my heart was warmed by this email note...

87 head of heifers and 3 year olds. Only 1 was open. Thanks for wasting my
time. The vets time. Dammit I was looking for a little spending money.

cheers

They say it takes about seven years for most registered new breeders to bite the dust in the registered process; it takes about the same time to appreciate the value of closer bred, maternal bulls...I have to make a bid on all Joe`s PETE/REPETE heifers; I cut all the bulls; too little to be merchandisable ...  but I`m sure excited to buy these heifers for future genetic use...confusing? sometimes it is to me as well  Smile pictures would write a 1000 words so I`ll wait for a photograph opportunity before I say more...

Paranoia runs deep in the AAA...with a record of 132 years of "purity", why fear registered "derivatives"? Could it be that the AAA "derivative" can show no advantage over the crossbred"derivative" and the money invested in a paper pyrimiad could go up in flames? how is commercial beef production enhanced by breed competition rather than breed complimentarity ? breed associations continue to be one of the most negative influences on beef production. There is a better way...

The only advantage to cross, plus, ultra or whatever the breeders are marketing now is to quickly repair and cover/recover those 7+ years of breeding mistakes, trusting the wrong sources, discovering that they are breeding problem "purebreds" and dreaming an expensive and broken mainstream dream. One dose of hybrid vigor is the magic eraser. No other reason to explain why registered Angus breeders by the scads are selling a crossed animal or want a crossed animal unless the purebred is not doing what it is supposed to do and be the greatest as CAB. Everybody knows the issues with using crossed bulls but they want them because they NEED them! Maybe purebred breeders who do not think for themselves need one of those weaning rings inserted, too.

PostSubject: Re: 2015 Keeney Angus Bull Sale   2015 Keeney Angus Bull Sale - Page 7 I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 29, 2015 2:13 pm

What is the difference? How many have actually used anything with any semblance of purity beyond color and horned or polled heads? Preconceptions prevail. Claims of knowing the best and worst even though their best predictions have a high failure rate continue. The wheel keeps going round and round. The same leaders that caused todays problems are relied upon to solve those problems.

I look out and see the most appealing heifers I have ever raised and consider their herd mates unmarketable as bulls. That is my preconception based on tradition. Something I must remedy. Still the victim of my education, and not a good enough educator to sell the product. The result of using the "worst" bulls in their calf crop. Actually the purest form resulting from concentrating my favorite cows.

The best looking bull yearling bull in any of the sale catalogs is supposed to be a maternal masterpiece too. Compared to what? If the good maternal ones are cut based on appearance, what competition is left?

Common Core is not just a problem in schools. The common core practice of claiming superior parents based on using the most spectacular end product model as seed stock only works when real seed stock are culled due to appearance and the model of numerical selection only accelerated selection of end product assuming that they are also the best parents. They are too deep now to admit mistakes. I am too far removed to care. I get to watch these beautiful creatures doing what they were bred to do for the next 10-15 years.

when the bs dream weavers dare declare themselves as out of the box thinkers, all promotional ground has been occupied...the only rarity position left is truth, the only customer base left is those who can discern the difference between promised dreams and genetic reality...I wouldn`t want to be running for office with truth my base; so a kingdom of one is a logical outcome...

naming this one...KA Fairy Tale  his story reads too much like Baby Bear`s soup; just right; we know the soup tasted good, but did it digest well? Smile ...we`ll see a maternal brother in Mo next year; a half sib mating...sire of this calf is quite the ordinary specimen, though Tom  said he really was a pretty ok kind of bull...Tom, like me, may not know, but he matters...Smile

ps...Tom as not in Burke Smile

OH GEE...I`ve registered this cow ; no, branded her by naming her...KA Miss Promiscuity...gesssshhhh, a political correct moment here...MS Promiscuity? Certainly not Mrs Promiscuity?

here she calves January 28, 2015...weans the calf above Oct...down there today; first time in a week to check on stockpile , and here she is calved again...

The greatest thing about this NEW android phone is without question the camera...there is always a picture opportunity
just a snap away; below is a proven calving ease bull I hold in high esteem and will  probably breed cows as well someday;
extraordinary feet; dam the best Shoshone cow from Larry; she now resides at Jon`s and Kendra`s...sorry you can`t
see feet, or a Burkish type photo; even though the camera is ready, often the sun; and the subject`s beauty and pose is
not perfect and even with editing still is lacking...

EVERYTHING  IS PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL... Very Happy

some say the first leaf is for faith, the second is for hope, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck
I believe employ the first three, and the fourth is a state of mind...Merry Christmas santa

Mike,
I think these temps are Mother Nature's welfare checks and I will gladly accept it. We sure don't need all the extra water to go with it though that is for certain.

I`ve been so busy with the pic posting I forget where they are...so a repeat of this proven calving ease sire...

2015 Keeney Angus Bull Sale - Page 7 12122015_zpskdjzq5m7

sure I want more than calving ease...I want to duplicate his little {1250 plus in this condition} mother who posed today...

2015 Keeney Angus Bull Sale - Page 7 5deb1864-0a8a-473b-aa7a-af45b2a126af_zpsondx1gw1

they don`t have to look like an occ or sav  to get in body condition...but it`s best to be a Bonsma type if you want
them to get bred...
but there`s more to think about...paraphrasing a favorite quote from Larry ...you have to be able to look at the egg {the cow}
and see the eagle {the char calf at side)

WHEN YOU SPEND TOO DAM MUCH ON REGISTURD PARAPHERNALIA ONE MUST KEEP ADVERTISING COST DOWN

hook them with the cheap bull, then gouge them with a better, higher priced, use another breeders name, must be in the top % for anything.  so easy don't know why I quite.

Without knowing any better, how would they know? Everyone does it an no one calls them out. ('cept here) Many pay a high price to use the name and the name gets free advertising. Many big bull suppliers will even get you USDA tags with their name to put on your cattle. Not real traditional to put the Government and bull suppliers name on your cattle, but I guess that is what happens when traditional thinking is thrown out for progressivism. Satellite Auctions sell under the name of the bull supplier. Belong to something you believe is bigger than you are or can be. Bandwagon tribalism. Everyone is welcome to a taste, but it ain't free.

It used to be you were proud of your name and would protect your reputation. I guess people also used to have their own bloodlines. Now most have never even seen a representative of a bloodline. The door has been opened to crossbred bulls once again because of the heterozygotic condition of the supposed purebreds and the limitations that come with it. "Reputation cattle" is still used, but the meaning has changed. Systems are claimed, but the components necessary are too difficult to create and don't fit the criteria deemed indicative of quality. We all use specialized equipment, yet want a cow to do it all. Like an all terrain aquatic vehicle. They are available, but they are expensive and their limitations keep them from being widely used. You have to give up something to have it all. Once specialization is understood, efficiency can be pursued.

or just read her the words ...

Now once, I was down hearted
Disappointment, was my closest friend
But then you, came and it soon departed
And you know he never
Showed his face again

I'm so glad, I've finally found you
Yes that one, in a million girls
And I whip, my loving arms around you
I can stand up, and face the world

Let me tell ya, your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on lifting (love keeps lifting me)
Higher (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)
I said your love (your love keeps lifting me)
Keep on (love keeps lifting me)
Lifting me (lifting me)
Higher and higher (higher)

on April 16 we can celebrate the musical...and having our taxes paid once again cheers  cheers
