R G A Eileenmere 44

Wondering if Kent would comment on the calves by this bull. What characteristics do you like/dislike?

A bull "discovered" in dairy herd. Few Angus bulls could breed a dairy heifer in the early 60's. He wasn't used by Registered breeders very much, because he was too big. He was used by Commercial cattlemen and on Dairy heifers. Commercial cowherds built on his daughters served as foundation herds for Simmental. He was popular in Kansas for 20 years for his commercial production attributes. He is the only bull at KABSU to sell every straw and amp collected.

I used 200 straws of this bull, (all on commercial cows) thought he was one of my better bulls, though there were a few I wouldn't brag about, 1 in particular calf which looked just like a Jersey. For the most part I would guess his cows were less than 5 frame, weight was between 12-1300 kept flesh rather easy, gave good milk, udder started out great and degraded with time, most were culled at about there 10th to 12th calf because of udder issues rather than physical break down. they calved regular and were docile and pretty stylish cows, they looked like Angus. He was my calving ease specialist we stacked him fairly close and in some of my later cows it was not uncommon to have him 4 times in the dams pedigree, as my Dad would say "the branch went straight up". Worked really well on Wye and Rito bloodlines. I kept 2 bulls from him, one was a disappointment, but the other made up for the first, but like all good thing his life was cut short by getting his jaw broke when he was a 2 year old.



This bull has RGA Eileenmere 44 5 times back in his pedigree his great maternal grand dam is sire by the last Eileenmere bull (tag#38) I had. He is sire by the Legend 585 bull I got from Kent. The picture doesn't show it but he is about as wide as any 2 year old I have ever seen. Since I bred the bull I could be bias, but I know the owner thinks he is something special also, his first calves are on the ground and growing well, will be interesting to see how they turn out.

I have to apologizes, I lied about the above bull he only traces back to Eileenmere twice, because on my number system, I thought he had the #17 cow in his pedigree, but it turned out to be #42, makes alot of difference. Meaning he has very little Eileenmere blood in him since besides the 12 bull (sire to the MGGD) the other cow is a 1974 borned Eileenmere cow that traces to about every commercial cow I own. Sorry I did not mean to mislead anybody. That what happens when I just try to go off the top of my head from memory.

This is the closest living relative of the old Eileenmeer bull I got, a GGD. Still shows some of the characteristic's of the Eileenmere cattle, including the udder. Pictured at 9 years of age. Funny the 2 years I sent calves to Decatur feedyard, her 2 steers appeared to be my best money makers, both were CAB, both finished in the first sort, were close to only 12 months of age, one had a yield grade 2 and other 3 with 780# and 830# hot carcase weights.

This is a granddaughter, may not of been pretty but she was very good at what a cows needs to do, culled at age 12 because of drought, was sad to see her go, she was still producing good. pictured at 11. one of my all time favorite cows.

Years ago I called and visited with AN 11 's breeder , Raymond G Ankenman at Norton KS , his comments were pretty much like Kent told it. The only daughter i ever had out of the bull had a super disposition .
